Laboratory of Human and Primate Evolutionary Genetics

Dr. Ryan Raaum directs the Laboratory of Human and Primate Evolutionary Genetics at Lehman College. Work in this laboratory is focused on gaining insight into fundamental questions in evolutionary genetics using computational and statistical analyses of human and primate population genetic data.

The laboratory is a recently renovated 375 sq ft. facility at Lehman College and is dedicated to molecular genetic data collection for population genetic studies. The focus of work in the wet laboratory is on the preparation of rare and unique human and primate DNA samples for sequence, SNP, and STRP data collection. The laboratory is fully equipped with current state-of-the-art equipment, including real-time and gradient thermocyclers, a digital fluorescence imaging system, and an automated sample preparation system.
